Jet Provost - Rich Dawe
Former Red Pelican Aerobatic Display Team Aircraft
The Red Pelicans were one of a number of aerobatics display teams of the Royal Air Force before the Red Arrows were selected to represent the service in 1965. The Red Pelicans flew the BAC Jet Provost aircraft and N287XY was flown by the Red Pelican Team.
Rich Dawe and his Wife, Chris, routinely fly the Jet Provost which is based at 42A in Melbourne AR. Rich flew the aircraft carrier based EA6B Prowler during his career as a naval aviator and retired as a captain in 2004. He is a decorated combat experienced aviator with over 750 carrier arrested landings on numerous aircraft carriers.
He and his wife previously owned and operated an L-29 which Rich raced in the jet class at the Reno air races. Rich is rated in the Jet Provost, Strike Master, Vampire, Sea Venom, L29 and Citations. He is a CFI, CFII, MEI and sea plane rated commercial pilot. Dr. Dawe has served as president of Ozarka College in north Arkansas for more than 11 years and is proud to have established a thriving professional pilot degree program at Ozarka College.
